1, General Information about the Transportation


To and from the Airports

All four of Stockholm’s airports are connected to downtown by airport coaches as well as municipal alternatives. From Stockholm Arlanda-Airport you can also choose the high-speed train service Arlanda Express.

 

Stockholm Arlanda Airport

Stockholm-Arlanda Airport is located 40 kilometers (25 miles) north of Stockholm City.

 

The Arlanda express train takes you from Arlanda Airport to the city center. The platform is easily accessible, underneath the arrival terminals. Departure: every 15 minutes (for most of the day). Travel time: 20 minutes.

 

Flygbussarna Airport Coaches depart every 10-15 minutes between Arlanda Airport and the City Terminal (located next to the Central Station). Travel time to Arlanda: 35-45 minutes. Buses also run to Liljeholmen via Karolinska, Fridhemsplan, and Södermalm (50 min). To Bromma airport via Kista and Sundbyberg. (54 min).

Commuter trains (operated by the public transport company in Stockholm, SL) to Stockholm depart twice an hour from Arlanda Central Station in Sky City. Total travel time between the airport and Stockholm Central Station is 43 minutes.

 

Bromma Stockholm Airport, Skavsta Airport, and Västerås Airport

Flygbussarna Airport Coaches operates all airports, with departures timed with arrivals and departures at the airports. Travel time: 20 minutes (Bromma), 80 minutes (Skavsta) and 80 minutes (Västerås).

The airport bus departs from outside the arrivals hall every 10 minutes during the rush hour.

For further information, please see www.flygbussarna.se.

The trip to Stockholm by bus takes around 40 minutes.

Airport Express

Arlanda Express

The Arlanda Express train takes you to Stockholm’s Central Station in 20 minutes. There are departures every 10 minutes during the rush hour.

For further information, please see www.arlandaexpress.com 

 The Arlanda Express is signposted from the arrivals hall at Arlanda.

Wait for a taxi at the taxi rank sign outside the arrivals hall.

Make sure you ask for the price in advance (it should be between SEK 475 and SEK 625).

The airport bus departs from outside the arrivals hall. For departure times and prices, please see www.flygbussarna.se or ask at the information desk in the arrivals hall.

The trip to Stockholm’s Central Station takes around 80 minutes. You can walk from Stockholm’s Central Station to Hotel Birger Jarl in 15–20 minutes.

The Tube

The Tube

The tube station entrance is on the station’s ground floor. Take the green tube line towards Hässelby, get off at the Rådmansgatan station, take the Tegnérgatan exit and walk ap-proximately 200m down Rådmansgatan before turning left onto Tulegatan, where you’ll find Hotel Birger Jarl on the right hand side.

Tube tickets can be bought in a machine at the barriers (a single will cost SEK 36).

Wait for a taxi at the taxi rank sign outside the terminal building or order a taxi at the information desk in the arrivals hall.

Make sure you ask for the price in advance (it should be around SEK 1400).


(3). From Västerås Airport to Hotel Birger Jarl

To central Västerås: The area around the airport is called Hässlö and is approximately 5 kms from central Västerås. You can get to the centre either by taking local bus no. 941 or by taking a taxi, which costs about SEK 200. The taxi rank and bus stops are signposted outside the terminal building. There are trains every hour from Västerås Central to Stockholm’s Central Station. The journey takes approximately one hour. Please see www.sj.se for timetables and prices.

■The airport bus between Västerås airport and Stockholm’s Central Station departs a few times a day in conjunction with Ryanair arrivals (and departures). Please see www.flygbussarna.se for timetables and prices, or ask at the information desk in the terminal building.

Car

The on-ramp for the E18 motorway to Stockholm and other destinations is located only a few hundred meters from the Västerås airport.

Driving from Västerås airport to central Stockholm takes approximately 1 hour.
